@PseudoPositive the file is there, and i have tried replacing it. i guess that it just doesn't work on win8
I get the same error as tatootheearth, also running win 8 x64. I tried replacing the dll with one from Rocksmith and the error changes to say: "the procedure entry point SKIDROW could not be located".

No such thing as 64bit only, try using the compatibility wizard if the game installed but wont play. Right click on desktop icon, run compatibility wiz. Why anyone without a touchscreen is running windows 8 is beyond me. True gamers wouldnt touch win 8 unless game is designed for it.

Does not work on Win8 x64 (same 'procedure entry point' error as those with problems above). Also tried using several different settings in compatibility mode with no resolution. I will try this in a WinXp VM to confirm whether or not this game works.
I can confirm this additionally does not work on WinXp (32bit) as well. Can anyone confirm that this does in fact work in any environment?

Hey, guys. I'll post here a solution for people whom as me use windows 8 32bit.
1) Create an acoount on steam and download any free game
2) Copy steam_api.dll and steam_appid.ini from the GAME folder to Fieldrunners 2 folder
3) Copy steamclient.dll from Steam Folder to FieldRunners 2 folder
4) Edit steam_appid.ini on notepad and use the 215710 instead of any code written there.
5) Open and log in on steam
6) Play the game. It's worked for me and i'm sure it will work for you.
7) Pass foward the information
1) Create an acoount on steam and download any free game

Has anyone figured out how to copy the game save between PCs? I installed on one system and played a lot, unlocking half the game. Now I want to play on another PC, but copying the save files doesn't work. I copied the entire game dir and the whole userdata folder with the game's ID (215710), but starting the game just overwrites the save file with a new one, starting the game over with no progress.

Use the SteamApi from Steam directly. No longer crashing on start up on Windows 8 x64.

I'm on W8 64, I tried to copy steam_api, steam_api64 steamclient, steamclient64, I have the good steam_appid, but game still crashes :(

I can get this running on windows 8 x64, but don't count on it keeping your saves.Restarts you back to the beginning every time.
Finally found a solution

I copy the part that helped me:
Open the Device Manager, navigate to your video card, right click and select Update driver software. "Search on my computer for driver software" then - "choose from a list of device drivers on my computer" - "data media" - seeking the Explorer to the previously loaded down the latest drivers are installed. For me this is "C: AMD Support 13-1_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql Packages Drivers Display W86A_INF"
finish the driver installation. Restart the PC and then it goes with me. I hope I could help. if not add me on Steam or post here."

If people need help, then it's fine for them to ask for it. Please don't act like an @sshole and shout at them. The torrent community is supposed to help others with advice and comments. Windows 8 is an amazing OS and far better than any previous versions MS has released. It just takes time to get used to it. (I've been assembling PCs for the last 16 years, so trust me, I know!)

With W8 64b, after solving the dll issue, there is another problem: exiting steam = loosing game save

@cailloup : One thing I've noticed about Windows 8 (at least with 64-bit edition since that is what i use) is that it doesn't like accepting files which are altered other than through an actual installation. This is a sort of security procedure i presume and is probably beneficial if we all live in an ideal world of buying genuine software which is cheap and affordable. And thus doesn't need to be run with patched files and pirated data. As that is not the case with our world anyway, here's the solution:
Install the game (and any other similar games you may have in the future) to another partiiton other than the primary one on which Windows-8 OS is installed. I have a "GAMES" folder in my "D" drive for all these "patched-and-pasted-over" things, while my entire C drive is used for Windows-8. This allows me to have all same game files intact.
Not just with this game, but so many others as well.

I'm curious, I dl'd this at first it was working. I'm using Win8 32bit btw. After the first stage, it crashes. So I came back here to see some fixes, other's say dload steam and any free game. I'm curious what game did you dload? Since I've dloaded some and still not working. I tried to reinstall now FR2 won't even open... at all.
